Dark Ambient
Dark Ambient (referred to as Industrial Ambient in the 1980s) is a genre of post-industrial music that has a threatening, booming and often gloomy, monumental or catacombic atmosphere, sometimes with harmonic overtones. It belongs to the Ambient genre, a genre that many Dark Ambient artists have claimed to be their main influence, both conceptually and compositionally. Although mostly produced electronically, the Dark Ambient also includes sampling of handmade instruments and semi-acoustic recording techniques, and is strongly associated with the Industrial genre.
