Happy Hardcore originated in the early ‘90s in Great Britain and is a “cheerful” Techno style at a higher tempo of 160 to 180 betas per minute (BPM). Typical of this music style are piano hook lines and break beat samples from a mixture of Reggae, Techno, and Hip Hop. This music style became known in Germany chiefly through chart hits from the so called “Scooter” and “Blümchen” acts, which certainly did not use any typical Hardcore Techno beat. In the mid ‘90s various facets of Hardcore were described as Rave.
