Psychedelic 1/2

Alternative >> Psychedelic

Psychedelic music is a style of music that emerged in the 1960s and is characterized by the use of electronic effects and distortion, as well as experimental song structures. The music is usually carried by guitars, bass, drums and keyboards and is characterized by its trippy sounds and distorted guitar riffs.

The psychedelic style emerged in the late 1960s when bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead began incorporating electronic effects and other sound distortions into their music. These bands pioneered psychedelic rock and shaped the genre with their innovative music and colorful stage shows.

In the 1970s, the psychedelic style was popularized by bands such as Pink Floyd, Hawkwind and The Alan Parsons Project. These bands relied on long, complex song structures and used atmospheric sounds and sound collages to create a trippy, hypnotic effect.

Today, there are many different styles within psychedelic music, including psychedelic rock, space rock, and neo-psychedelia. Well-known contemporary psychedelic music artists include Tame Impala, The Flaming Lips, and Animal Collective.

Psychedelic music is particularly well-suited for licensing in films, TV shows, and commercials that seek to create a trippy or surreal atmosphere. It is also often played in clubs and festivals and is popular with music fans looking for something more experimental and exciting.
