Topic search COMEDY 1/10

Anything intended to be funny, portray humor, or cause laughter is considered comedy. It is found everywhere and in everything. We do not have to go far to experience comedy in our own lives, when we laugh due to an unexpected situation, or when we do or see something silly. There are great examples in literature that date as far back as the ancient Greeks, such as Aristophanes Lysistrata, or the more modern essay satire of Dostoyevsky’s Notes >From Underground by Woody Allen, Notes >From The Overfed. Countless examples are also found in film, such as Kanin’s Bachelor Mother (1939), and Harold Lloyd’s and Ted Wilde’s The Kid Brother (1927), as well as in operettas such as Johann Strauss II’s The Bat, and Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow.

A very relaxed slapstick and big band number. In the very first part the piano doubled by pizzicato strings introduce the melody, then all string and woodwind players come into play. The middle section is carried by trumpets and trombones and form therefore a B-part which can be also used seperately.
