Ska ist eine Form der jamaikanischen Musik, die in den frühen 1960er Jahren begann. Sie kombiniert Elemente des traditionellen Mento und Calypso mit amerikanischen Jazz und Rhythm and Blues-Sound, Ska war ein Vorläufer in Jamaika für Rocksteady und später auch Reggae. Durch sie wurden Gruppen wie die Rudeboys, Mods und Skinheads beeinflusst, aber auch Künstker wie Symarip, Laurel Aitken, The Charmers und The Pioneers.

Ska is a type of music that originates from Reggae and Jamaican music. The British punk movement also borrowed from Ska, and a good example of a band that made Ska popular in the mainstream was the UK pop/party band, 'Madness'. (Remember the song "Our House"?).
